I am a British horse riding instructor of many years. My husband is a qualified plumbing, heating and electrical engineer running a business in England. We wish to set up gite, plumbing and heating business, riding lessons for clients of the gite and others. I also want to be able to offer food to the gites guests.

I am concerned about the turnover limits and the initial cost of renovating both properties as I would like to claim back the expenditure. We are mainly doing the work ourselves so I presume we can only claim materials. Our main house will be only rented out for the two months of the main season but the second house will be rented out for any period outside that. I presume this is possible.
